Chicken rice tour

14 Oct

Hi there, it’s been a while since Girly editor blogged about food. This week we shall go for one of Singaporean’s favourite food, Hainanese chicken rice. Hainanese Chicken rice is truly Singapore’s iconic food, you can see it everywhere in almost any hawker or foodcourt and most of the time well liked by tourist too. However most of the time some are losing the authentic aroma, so today, girly editor show you some top rating chicken rice places that retains the authentic flavor!

Boon Tong Kee

Talking  about the history of chicken rice, you will definitely not miss out Boon Tong kee.

In 1979, Mr. Thian Boon Hua started a small stall in Chinatown serving Cantonese chicken rice. Building upon the popularity of his silky white sauce chicken rice and emphasis on quality service, he rallied his family members to establish Boon Tong Kee’s first restaurant at Balestier Road in 1983.

In its second year of operation, the restaurant started to garner rave reviews and accolades from industry luminaries and customers. Before long, outlets at MacPherson Road, Whampoa West, River Valley Road, Cheong Chin Nam Road and East Coast Road followed in rapid succession.

The company diversified its operations in 1999 to include “Zi Char” (home-style cooked food) and eateries. From the traditional Balestier Road outlet to the upscale River Valley branch, Boon Tong Kee has enthralled Singaporeans and tourists alike with its delectable food and friendly staff.

Thien Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice & Steamboat

Next up, it’s a place for family and friends gathering. Thien Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice at Golden Mile Complex. This is a place where you will see it crowded with people everytime you are there, almost everyone who had tried has good things to say about it. The chicken based soup for the steamboat is clear yet flavourful, trust me, will can’t stop drinking!

Back to the main attraction chicken rice, the meat is really tender even the meat is infused with the aroma of sesame oil.

Not to forget the rice is bursting with flavor! It is so nice you can have it on its own!

SPACE @ My Humble House

If you are concern about the ambiance where you have food you must try SPACE is at Esplanade.

Driven by popular demand for a more casual dining place at Esplanade, Space @ My Humble House was opened in August 2004. Designed by internationally renowned design guru Mr Junpei Yamagiwa and his team from Myu Planning, Tokyo, this casual-chic 34-seater restaurant sits next to My Humble House. The restaurant is conceptualized with the theatre-goers at The Esplanade in mind, and most items on the menu, which features Singapore’s favourite local fare with a twist, are one-dish meals of salads, soups, rice, noodles or a light snack.

And here we are with the Hainanese chicken rice set at approximately $12.90,comes with a mushroom chicken soup. A brand new experience to have chicken rice and some other local delights with a twist.
